Junk Food
Junk food is a pejorative term for food
containing high levels of calories from sugar or fat
with little protein, vitamins or minerals. Use of the term implies that a particular food has
little "nutritional value"
and contains excessive fat, sugar, salt, and calories. Junk food can also refer to high
protein food containing large amounts of meat prepared with, for example, too
much unhealthy saturated fat; many hamburger outlets, fried chicken outlets
and the like supply food considered junk food. Despite being labeled as
"junk," such foods usually do not pose any immediate health concerns
and are generally safe when integrated into a well balanced diet.
However, concerns about the negative health effects resulting from the
consumption of a "junk food"-heavy diet
have resulted in public health awareness campaigns, and
restrictions on advertising and sale in several countries.
Junk
Food is a term that
describes the food that is unhealthy or have little nutritional content. Nirnutrisi
foods contain large amounts of fat. Fast food such as hamburgers, french fries from
McDonald's, KFC and Pizza Hut are often regarded as nirnutrisi food, while the
food was the same as California Pizza Kitchen or Nando's is not considered, although

high uric acid levels, it is advisable to avoid these types of foods as the

Junk food is identical with fast food.
This type of food is generally consumed by urban residents who have limited
time so that they choose to consume this food that does not need to wait for a
long time to eat. Junk food is kind of food that is not advisable to be
consumed too often because this type of food is lack of nutritional value but
it contains high enough calories, fat, and sugar. Junk food has become part of
people’s life in the urban areas that are very busy with the activity of work.
Junk food includes a hamburger, hot dogs, French fries, carbonated drink, candy
and various types of cake that use an artificial sweetener.
Too often consuming junk food can
cause bad impacts for your health. The low nutritional content as well as the
high calories conceived by junk food can trigger various diseases. The most
possible impact of too much consuming junk food is obesity. Besides, junk food
can also increase the risk of diabetes, a heart attack, as well as
hypertension.
A study carried out by the University
of Minnesota School of Public Health, researched the harmful effects of junk
food. This research obtain the conclusion that eating fast food twice or more
in a week have the possibility of 27 percent larger to develop diabetes and 56
percent die because of diseases of the heart, compared to participants who seldom
or never eat fast food. Even the participants that are known eat fast food four
times or more in a week, have the risk of death from a heart attack which
increase to 80 percent. Western people are fond of consuming junk food so that
their insulin hormone remains high the rest of the day. This case can lead to
metabolic processes in the body to be disrupted as well as raising the risk of
diabetes type 2.
The women who are pregnant should
avoid eating junk food. Eating junk food is not only bad herself but also for
the baby. The baby will be so vulnerable to diabetes and hypertension. Besides,
a number of studies in china revealed that the rate of breast cancer in the
country has increased due to the modern lifestyle that people consume junk food
too often.
Furthermore, a research from the
University of Adelaide shows that eating full of junk food for children will
make their IQ two points lower than a child who does not eat much junk food.
Even though the IQ difference is not so subtle, this study proves that
children’s way of eating at age of 6 to 24 months give small but significant
effects on their IQ when they reach eight years old. Therefore, it is important
for parents to consider the long-term impact of food that is given to their
children. In addition, some junk foods have the addictive substances as well as
containing an artificial sweetener. These substances will make a child become
more hyper and easily distracted. This will cause the child, especially a male,
to like fighting.
Although junk foods taste good and can
be obtained easily and quickly. It has enough risk to health so that you are
advised not to consume this kind of food too often. It will be better if we
include green vegetables and fruits to consume. A study conducted by the
University of Leicester found that green vegetables and fruits are able to
reduce the risk of diabetes type 2 until 14 percent.
Burgers and French Fries are
delicious. Its scent can make your saliva dripping. Then, occasionally enjoying
junk food is no problem. It will be a problem if you make this junk food as
your daily food.
Consuming too much junk food can
cause several impacts to your body. First, your skin can be wrinkles before its
time. The adverse effect of eating junk food is not only overweight, but also
on skin. Sugar, Trans fats, and flour, can cause the insulin jump up and
stimulate an inflammatory. Chemical reaction occurs when sugar molecules strike
protein or saturated fat accelerates the aging process by deactivating
antioksidant in the body. You also be susceptible to damage due to exposure to
the rays of the sun and make the skin wrinkles faster.
The second impact is constipation.
Fresh bread, rice, and other products which are made of the base of powdery
starch and have low fibre, can cause constipation. In fact, fibre has function
to move everything through the body. If you have dehydration, the condition of
constipation will be more severe. It will be worse if you drink soda.
The third is heartburn. Consuming too
much junk food can trigger stomach acid disorders. Foods that contain high
saturated fat takes longer time to digest. When the burger or French fries that
you enjoy overnight haven’t been completely digested in the morning, the excess
stomach acid can be pushed up into the oesophagus when it comes to the next
time to eat. Therefore, you feel nausea and heartburn.
The fourth is worsening the PMS (Pre
Menstruation Syndrome) symptoms. Food is not actually led to the appearance of
premenstrual syndrome symptoms. There are other sources that make it even
worse, for example, sugar and starch, that causes insulin up and down rapidly.
This will affect chemical compounds in the brain and can aggravate the mood
swing that you feel.
The fifth is headache. Have you ever experienced
headaches after successive consuming fatty food? The pain is caused by
tyramine, a chemical compound that is formed in the breakdown of a specific
protein in food dye and nitrate. Experts say these materials can improve blood

Because of that, you should carefully observe more the food you eat. Stay away
from foods that have unnatural colour.
The sixth is bloat. Various processed
foods that are used for junk foods contain high levels of sodium. Sodium is the
cause of flatulence because the sodium set the number of blood and blood
vessels to bind water. High intake of sodium will draw water from your body
cells and cause a body hold more liquid as compensation. Drinking diet
soda will make your condition is getting worse, because the bubble and the artificial
sweetener can trigger bloat.
